The Centenary Institute’s Professor Chris Semsarian AM, Head of the Agnes Ginges Centre for Molecular Cardiology, has talked about his research into cardiovascular disease and sudden cardiac death in young people, in an interview on Radio 2GB’s Healthy Living program.
During the interview, Professor Semsarian explained that underlying genetic abnormalities could lead to rhythm problems with the heart, heart failure and sadly, sudden cardiac death as well.
“Our focus is to better understand the specific genes responsible for sudden cardiac death events, particularly in young people under the age of 35, so that we can improve diagnosis and management of both patients and their families,” said Professor Semsarian.
